With a bevy of San Francisco museums, parks, world-class seafood and sushi restaurants, and a great San Francisco hotels a person can easily spend a week soaking up the immense culture and vibrant atmosphere of the place that is widely regarded as one of the world’s best cities.

People who are interested in experiencing the essence and power of the Pacific Ocean can board a sailboat or a ferry and take a tour of the large Bay, which includes Alcatraz island. The former penitentiary is open for daily tours the majority of the calendar year, and night tours are available during warm summer months for folks who are in the market for a bit of fright.

A slew of piers dot the landscape on the east side of the city, housing businesses that offer up tasty treats such as saltwater taffy and mouthwatering local clam chowder. Street performers and acrobats are sprinkled all over the Embarcadero, an area near the end of the piers that offers up shopping, dining and sea loin viewing.

Golden Gate Park is a rectangular-shaped stretch of land situated in the northwest area of the city that is not to be missed. Located on the public park’s cozy and comfortable grounds are a handful of museums, a large collection of food trucks, a Japanese Tea Garden, a golf course and miles of jogging trails.

Sports fans should be sure to visit the home of the San Francisco Giants, a large and regal stadium which was completed around the turn of the century and has remained on the cutting edge ever since. Try to secure your tickets early, as the Giants have a huge following in the area and games are sure to sell out. If you attend a night game, be sure to bring is a sweater or jacket, as the region is known for its whipping evening winds.

In New York Several options are possible to visit the places one wants to achieve. Public transport is good arranged. It is not advisable to rent yourself a car, the traffic is huge and chaotic. In addition, rental cars as well as gasoline is expensive.

The metro is a pretty safe way to travel. The metro, followed by the bus are the best ways of transportation in Manhattan. Train travel is indeed faster, but then you often do the subway or the bus to the place of destination. If you want to visit different places you can, to avoid long waits at the counter, often the best buy a Metro Card.

You can also find a taxi, most taxi drivers are reliable. If there is a problem if you are the number of the taxi licensing questions below will usually already resolved the issue.

If an impression of the landscape and environment of New York wants to get the ferry is a good choice.

More about New York transportation

The metro
Traveling by subway is not so dangerous and difficult as claimed. It remains the most reliable and fastest way to travel around the city. Most attractions in Manhattan with the subway. However, one must take into account work on some routes.
The bus
City buses run around the clock. On the subway and train stations have maps with bus routes available. At the regular bus stops are often shows where the bus stops and what to see. Between 22.00 and 05.00 hours on the bus can stop anywhere along the route.
The taxi
The taxi is a safe and comfortable transportation in New York. If the number is lit on top of the taxi, the taxi is available. A tip of 10% -15% is customary. If you have the idea scammed by the driver you can discuss whether they will note the number of the taxi license and requires an account. Because of the Control Commission for taxis, the chance of a relatively small problem.
The car
As mentioned, rental cars and the expensive gasoline in New York much more expensive than anywhere else in the U.S.. The biggest problem with the car is to find a parking space, parking requirements are also extremely complicated. At night it is often easy to find a parking space during the day. If one wants to do a hired car, a driver’s license and credit cards accepted are discussed. At the airports you can find all major car rental companies.
The ferry
There are several ferry routes in New York – Tours on the Hudson River – Center to Yankee Stadium – New Jersey train station in Hoboken to the pier in Lower Manhattan at the financial center – because of the stunning views of lower Manhattan is a ride on the popular “free Staten Island Ferry” a must. This ferry leaves from the South Terminal.
Wheelchair Accessibility
Transport in New York for people in wheelchairs is not that simple. The streets of New York are often flooded with pedestrians. The subway is hardly accessible to wheelchair users. The best means of transport for wheelchair users is the bus. The buses have wheelchair lifts and wheelchair spaces. Wheelchair access, public buildings and facilities, Broadway Theaters and cinemas. Not all restaurants have the opportunity to welcome guests in wheelchairs. Which restaurants are wheelchair friendly and can be checked in the restaurant guides

With your own car travel is really only beneficial if you have enough people to share petrol or diesel. And of course you need a car in the first place. Generally you can count on you doing over 100km 1h, this can sometimes be faster, sometimes slower, but taken over a whole day, this is a very solid average. It depends on how rushed you are, and how many drivers there are, how far you'll get per day.
It is also very important to have your car checked before the trip. Perhaps it will need some things to repair and you will probably need a good tires, like Nitto tyres, to make sure you won't stay in some strange land without any chances to get home! Continue reading →

Travel the world, explore, discover what’s behind the corner. It’s in the genes of humans to see beyond the familiar neighborhood and known to leave trails. This is all well and good, but how do you get from point A to B? The possibilities are extensive, and depending on the distance, the personal requirements you set your carriage, the place where you want to go, time, and many other factors … Here are some cheap ways to get around the world.

Run
The oldest transport: your own two legs. These are the most reliable, and can be virtually any terrain. However, there are two drawbacks. It dares to go slow sometimes, and you also look tired. The big advantage is that it can go much cheaper. Although this should be balanced when you consider that every day you should have food and shelter.

Cycling
Still a very cheap transport. All you need is a good bike and a good condition. Daily distances can thus be increased to 100 to 150km. You will, however, also get tired. Also, your back may begin to work against.

Recumbent
A variant of the previous one, only slightly higher speeds are possible. The bike itself is a whole lot more expensive and has some practice to get the hang of. Distances of 150 to 180km per day are certainly feasible.

Canoe
For if you should go along very watery area. This is actually not a real vehicle, since the paddle itself is a part of the holiday. But you hit it forward, of course.

Bus
This is the cheapest way of transport. There are certain companies that provide bus services. And as you come in less populated areas, the tours are getting longer and relatively cheaper. This way you can easy do 1000 km in one day. The disadvantage is that they do not ride every day driving everywhere.

Train
The train is usually only recommended for last-minute transportation, because then you have the high speed lines. If you are on time, it is usually cheaper for short distances like flies, but for longer distances, you should watch this. If the connections go smoothly, you may also expect 1000km per day with regular trains, and 1500 km per day with high speed trains.

Plane
With a little luck and you can search to find real gems that willcost you less than 10 euros 1000km far. Since you lose the most time at the airport, the rule is that the longer you run, the less time you need. You can fly around the world in 20 hrs, but a flight of 1.5 hour will make you loose more time on the airport than in the plane.

Ship
On the planet there is 70% water, so boating seems not such a bad option. But it’s slow, and moreover it is still expensive. A cruise ship is completely out of the question, and only an option if you could get a job there. But you will have to work hard, earn almost nothing, and very few can see the beautiful ocean. A ferry can be useful to back large tracts of land to cut off what you otherwise have had to drive around.
And then there is third option: sailing on a freighter. Although this seems a great idea in the beginning, the cost is quite disappointing. Count on about 100 euros per day, although I’m not sure if this is per cabin or per person. If the latter is ultimately too bad, 50 euros per person would be about the same as what you spend your day with a two man driving the car (gasoline), 2 x 1 night eats and sleeps.

Cars
With your own car travel is really only beneficial if you have enough people to share petrol or diesel. And of course you need a car in the first place. Generally you can count on you doing over 100km 1h, this can sometimes be faster, sometimes slower, but taken over a whole day, this is a very solid average. It depends on how rushed you are, and how many drivers there are, how far you’ll get per day.
It is also very important to have your car checked before the trip. Perhaps it will need some things to repair and you will probably need a good tires, like Nitto tyres, to make sure you won’t stay in some strange land without any chances to get home!

Hopping trains
This is only for the adventurous among us. The idea is that on a stationary or very slow-moving freight train you just jump on. Also very dangerous and prohibited. Long distances are possible per day and the train ride a bit, but the same applies for the train in a depot, and is that still all day.

Many images are circulating about the Maya that are not right. A famous rumor is that the Maya did not have the wheel. That is a misconception because there are many objects with wheels that were found are made by the Maya.
The wheel is seen as an important invention for the development of humanity. That is too bad to fall. The Maya were able to build an advanced society without the wheel, while it was aware of the characteristics of the wheel. The reason that Maya did not use the wheel, according to historians lies in the fact that they live in very mountainous areas. A car pulling into a mountain top is now even a whole company. The caravan is not recommended for a mountain ride. Often it is even forbidden because there are too many accidents.

Llama
The Maya used llamas as pack animals. This contributed to the harvest of arable land to the city. In mountainous areas of Europe donkeys were used as pack animals. High in the mountains, farmers will not easily be tempted to use a cart on wheels. Because of gravity, a vehicle bewield show always tends to seek the lowest point. Historians have this physical truth long overlooked and concluded that the Maya were not very smart because they knew the wheel. The Mayans knew the wheel and did not used it but, there are also academic historians who do not use their heads.

Fly
The wheel of the Maya comes in all kinds of ‘toys’. It has been found that small objects, thought to be a toy. The objects tell a story. There are articles of bewielde animals, human figures and spaceship-like figures. The Maya knew stories about people who understood the art of flying. If you can fly you have no wheels. This is one possible reason that no wheel using Maya. All other people had stories of flying machines in ancient times. Among historians, there is a big disagreement. Some historians say that all stories of the Celts, Scandinavians, Chinese, Sumerians, Egyptians, Mayans, Japanese, Tibetans, and many African nations have myths about flying gods. Other historians believe that ancient peoples really mastered the art of flying.

Books
The main wheel of the Maya we know is the Calendar wheel. The fact that a circle indicates that the Maya knew much about the circulation of the planets. The Maya were the emergence of stars and planets are calculated. The Maya could also calculate solar and lunar eclipses in the future. The Maya went far ahead of modern civilization. It is still difficult for scientists to swallow that the Maya were smarter than most of the people today.

In Indonesia you can take taxi for transportation. They are not that expensive. In 2010 they cost 25 cents to you converted a few miles through the city to transport. Every city has different markings on them. In one city there are letters on the vans, in the other city there are the colored lights on the roof. If a bus is driving past you just ask him whether he will show you the right direction.

A taxi
A taxi ride fixed route buses. They are called a taxi or a biasa. After arriving on a late drive, they drive back to the terminal, where many buses are. You can do but leave the vans until they are full. Sometimes it takes a long time before they leave, so it may take 2 hours a bus is full. If you leave early you must provide the charter bus. You pay for all the empty seats in the bus. It has been a relatively expensive experience on the other hand, remains cheap for Westerners.

Van
In the interior of the buses stuffed with people. The vans by default considered to have 15 seats. But sometimes there are 25 people transported in a tiny van. Sometimes the luggage is on the roof.

Music
The taxis are sometimes playing loud music. There are taxis DVDs, sometimes with karaoke DVDs so you can sing along. Other taxis are covered with dozens of mirrors in which the reverse is not addressed. Most taxis are honking known that you can with them. Sometimes the driver is accompanied by an extra employee that indicates the destination of the taxi. As an example, taxi towards town you will hear: “Kotakotakotakotakotakotakotakotakotakota!” Kota means city.

Rickety
The taxis are sometimes very shaky. The lever to open the door is broken, or windows do not open, or the buses are just very noisy, sometimes all within the protective plastic broke down because the bushings were fully loaded. The metal body is often rusty. An MOT know them apparently in Indonesia.

Ojek
For a few pennies more you can use the ojek. This is a motorbike taxi. The driver has an extra helmet. Here and distributed in the city you see ojek for customers. Sometimes, while walking down the street just a passing moped with the question: “Ojek? Ojek? Ojek?” The driver hopes to welcome you as a customer. Much money they earn is not easy, but enough for some to buy food and gasoline.

Becak
The becak is a pedicab. Going downhill for many will have an exciting roller coaster feeling. The becak often has a folding awning from sun and rain. It is nice in the tropics in a rickshaw to be moved. The bicycle is more expensive than the taxi van and ojek.

Today there are a large number of global low-cost airlines to distinguish, all here to do their best at the lowest possible price tickets to offer. Some of the biggest are Ryanair, Easyjet and Vueling. But what you’re really paying for a ticket? And what about other costs?
Ryanair
The Irish Ryanair has been around since 1985 but only really broke through in 1991 when Michael O’Leary was reorganized. He has made Ryanair as we know it. A society with no frills and low fares. Tickets can be really inexpensive which means that for a tenner into the sky with. Ryanair is the undisputed king of the low cost airlines. It is the number one in Europe. But now people will wonder if the cheap tickets, the company is profitable. The thing is: Everything you need to basically pay extra. Furthermore, the company an extensive route network, consisting of secondary airports.
Easyjet
The British Easyjet existence since 1995. Since that time the company has grown tremendously. Easyjet airline has the same mission as Ryanair cut costs. For all the extra that one wants to be paid. For example, food on board, checked baggage, etc. Just like Ryanair are the largest revenue earned. Easyjet has an extensive route network with 118 destinations in Europe, Turkey and North Africa. Unlike Ryanair, which flies to secondary airports, Easyjet flies to major airports.
Vueling
Vueling is a Spanish budget airline, with Barcelona as its home base. The company was founded in 2004 and maintains scheduled flights to 45 major cities in Spain, Europe and North Africa. Vueling flies to major airports of the best destinations, so long commutes to their destination to avoid. Vueling is a young company but is growing rapidly, with an order of six new aircraft. The company was only 1 year young, with two devices, when it was already known to be profitable.

I've received this email from Jason, he wishes to spread the word about honda generators:

The Honda generators are the best - I've used them for forty years. I currently use a Eu2000i for a mobile lab that has sensitive electronic equipment and forces them all without problems. By the end of Honda's clean and stable and can be used without extra line protection. (Some of the cheap units are so poorly regulated and has ugly waveforms that this is a good idea).

Another thing nobody has mentioned is that Honda will throttle down if the load is not too high, it becomes even quieter and will run for a long time. Continue reading →

Few transportation methods are as exotic and unusual as traveling by camel; camels are incredibly strong, resilient creatures. Many misconceptions surround this mysterious animal.

One common belief is that the camel stores water in its hump; this is incorrect, the hump actually contains fat that the animal can use as energy during times of need. The camel does store water in the bloodstream itself which is rare. The water stored in the bloodstream allows the animal to lose 40% of its normal water content before showing any signs of dehydration. No wonder people thought those humps contained water!

Another common misconception is that camels have foul dispositions; this couldn’t be further from the truth in most cases. Camels groan and make noise when lifting heavy weights and that may be where the misunderstanding comes from. The sweet and helpful disposition of the camel was very important in determining its place in traveling history.

A camel can lift over 400 kilograms; this ability to move heavy loads made them instrumental for transporting large amounts of cargo. Like horses, camels can be very pleasant to ride; a well trained camel can be a joy for even an inexperienced rider to ride.

Most famous is the flamboyantly designed gondola. Navigated by a gondolier standing at the stern, it typically is used by individuals and couples. (For an extra fee, the gondolier might serenade you.) Similar boats called traghetti, propelled by rowers, are common sights on the Grand Canal of Venice; they function as ferries, carrying passengers between specific points on either side of the canal. Vaporetti are much larger, motorized Venetian ferries.

Of all the unique and exotic transportation methods available in the world riding an elephant tops all others in terms of bragging rights; elephants are massive, majestic creatures and seeing the world from their back is a surreal experience.

The elephants used on treks are almost always female; the female displays a more stable temperament and the slightly smaller size is an advantage as well. Many people believe that the elephants used as mounts are from domesticated lines but that’s not the case; the elephant has never been fully domesticated. Though efforts have been made to domesticate this animal in the past the results were poor. The elephants that work with humans today were captured wild and then tamed; a wild elephant is very receptive to training.

The intelligence of elephants has been compared to dolphins and primates; they are very social animals and are extremely adaptable. Some groups have questioned whether using elephants for tourism is humane or not but elephant tourism has an important role in elephant conservation worldwide. In Thailand for example, elephants that were once used for logging found themselves and their handlers displaced when logging was banned. Without income for food the elephant’s numbers would have dwindled and died but thanks to elephant tourism the animals now have a good, positive source of income from tourists. Travelers can feel good about taking an elephant trek; they are helping to keep a place in this world for a marvelous creature.
